Background: I first volunteered for Cancer organizations in the fall of 2011 in Toronto and saw the wonderful work that so many are doing empowering cancer patients at the level of mind, body and spirit everywhere. Since then, I volunteered as facilitator and presenter in over 100 events throughout Canada, New Zealand and Australia. In 2017, I started creating seminars to include specific teachings on Connection, Intimacy and Relationships Empowerment© for cancer patients and survivors, and their families. Shortly after, I began offering these courses (in the form of a day-long seminar or week-end retreat) to prostate cancer patients and survivors, young adults patients with brain tumour, young adults patients with cancer, and health care professionals and they were extremely well received. We have many testimonials from patients and cancer survivors we have received over the years. To date, we have presented over 400 such events that include also academic talks to colleagues in the scientific community at national and international conferences, seminars and week-end retreats to cancer patients in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Islands, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec, Australia, USA, South Africa, Romania, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, UK and New Zealand. Although we both continue to be fully engaged and love our respective professions, we are committed to continue our collaboration and continue to volunteer and donate our personal time and resources to events that help cancer patients. These collaborations offer us an opportunity to learn, and grow, to get a deeper understanding of what are the challenges that patients face during their cancer journey, and their perspective of what health care means. These exchanges help us fuel our understanding of the work that still remains to be done to reach the patients and survivors in need, and translate scientific studies in tangible ways that help all involved. We continue to work collaboratively with charity organizations and other Cancer not-for-profit organizations to help support cancer patients and their families on their journey. The work we offer donates its proceedings to charity organizations. We are also committed to help health care professionals, given the relevance of our teachings to health care professionals burnout – which research shows it is detrimental to them, their families, and patient care and may exacerbate the already impending physician shortage. Rob and I have continued to work and develop new teaching materials for broader audiences (you will notice the offerings on the main page of our website©) outside of these collaborations.

We invite you to watch Empower — a moving documentary that follows the lives of people facing cancer and chronic illness who discover strength, healing, and hope through the Patient Empowerment Program. Their stories reveal the power of connection, daily action, and inner resilience — and may just inspire your own transformation.
